Isolated Aspergillosis of the Brain in an Immunocompetent Patient: A Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
Aspergillosis involving central nervous system (CNS) is known to occur frequently in the immunocompromised individual owing to increased invasive feature of the disease and decreased host defense capacity(1, 2). The common pathway of CNS aspergillosis is hematogenous dissemination usually from lung or continuous extension from adjacent structures such as sinonasal cavity (3, 4). Therefore, the radiologic findings of isolated aspergillosis in immunocompetent patient have been rarely described in the published literature (5, 6). We report an interesting case of a 29-year-old male without any known medical history who presented with fever and intractable headache. Isolated brain lesion was found in subsequent imaging studies which were pathologically confirmed as aspergillosis.

Pulmonary aspergillosis is a well known entity occurring in immunocompetent persons. Cutaneous aspergillosis, on the other hand, has been described in cases of suppressed immunity. Recently, invasive aspergillosis has been reported in patients with subtle immune dysfunction such as those with critical illness and advanced cirrhosis. We report a case of scrotal aspergillosis in association with ...
متن کاملReview of the Aspergillosis and Report A Case of its Central Nervous System
SUMMARY Because Aspergillus SP. are one of the most common airborne fungal contaminants in all parts of the world, the incidence of Aspergillosis is relatively high, but will not be diagnosed in some cases. In this survey we decided to review the importance of Aspergillosis and also to report a case of its Central Nervous system involvement in a patient without Immunodeficiency.
متن کاملCytomegalovirus Colitis in an Immunocompetent Patient: Report of a Case
Abstract Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a virus that can be consider as invasive infection after transplantation or chemotherapy, long-term corticosteroid users or in immunodeficient patients such as HIV. Different complications were seen in immunocompetent patients but colitis rarely occurs. The diagnosis of CMV was based on pathology by colonoscopy, positive CMV antigen and high CMV-IgM titer serum...

We report a 7 year old female child with aplastic anemia, who was under treatment but experienced periods of neutropenia. She had no evidence of respiratory aspergillosis before the onset of abdominal s...
